It is easier said than done. With our current lifestyle, where we miss out the pause button, it is extremely common to feel stressed or anxious. Everyone around is super busy, people are always running; to offices, to meetings, to pick up your children from school or maybe towards success or even for that matter- away from failures. This is all done for the ultimate goal of having a better life. But do we realise that it is not the goal of a better life but actually the journey that should matter. If we only focus on the goal, we might lose our sleep, our hair and in the bigger picture- our happiness. So what’s the point? I don’t see any.
I’d rather be happy right now and enjoy what I have. But of course, like I said earlier, it is easy to say such things than to actually do it.
That’s why I have compiled a list of things to free yourself from all the stress. How to deal with stress, here are the 4 best tips for you –
1) Talk to somebody: Everyone has a 2 am friend or family member. Going and sharing your feelings, or thoughts would release that internal pressure. We have all been there when we have that sinking feeling and it’s best to release it by sharing your thoughts with that special friend or relative. Go talk to your spouse, your mother or your BFF. But do not keep it inside you. You will otherwise feel extremely low, sluggish and sad. Go talk it out. I am sure some may mock you, tease you or even laugh at you but in the end they will actually hear you. They will definitely guide you and be a pillar of support you need.
2) Exercise: Everyone suggests exercising. I won’t be an exception. You MUST exercise. In simple terms, exercising releases good hormones inside your body. These hormones make you feel happy, positive and energetic. Basically, an antidote of what stress does to you.
3) Sleep: Ensure you sleep and relax yourself. Sleep for at least 6-8 hours daily. Sleeping rejuvenates your mind. But I know that sleeping isn’t very easy when you are stressed. Stress causes lack of sleep and lack of sleep causes stress. It’s like a trap that you should not fall into. Therefore, it is extremely important for you to relax your mind before going to bed. Avoid anything that sparks those tensions, and instead focus on being calm. Have a warm bath or read a light novel. Tire your eyes and just forget your days doings. You will eventually doze off ( for the night).
4) Avoid Alcohol: Alcohol is a BIG NO NO!! If you think that you can drown your sorrows by having that extra shot, then you are mistaken. Alcohol, nicotine or even too much caffeine are stimulants that result in an increase of stress levels. Alcohol in too much quantity is rather a depressant. I would suggest you to stay hydrated when stressed. Have lots of water, herbal teas or fresh fruit juices.
